The onset of cold temperatures in Nov. brought the growing season to an end;  Extremely high rainfall left soils and crops saturated and wet, causing extensive flooding.  However, the high rainfall amounts which began during the summer, also provided corn and sunflower crops moisture levels that supported a large harvest.
