Ukraine’s driest conditions this fall occurred in the south-central part of the country. Surface wetness, as indicated by microwave satellite imagery, was consistently lower than in 2005 and 2009, two years that were also marked by fall dryness. Note that the dryness in 2011 has continued well into November.
