Winter-wheat conditions in Stavropol, in the North Caucasus District, were extremely poor throughout the growing season. Reported wheat yield is down 45 percent from last year. Generous rainfall in June and July, however, provided outstanding conditions for corn, as indicated by the high NDVI during July.
