Abundant moisture contributed to vigorous vegetative growth in north-central Kazakhstan, as reflected in the satellite-derived vegetative indices (NDVI, or normalized difference vegetation index). The NDVI in mid- to late July typically provide a fairly reliable indicator of potential wheat yield.
